The coffee's hot. The fabric piles are threatening to take over the room. There's probably a quilt draped over a chair somewhere just outside the frame.
I grew up on a Montana ranch where making things was simply part of everyday life. If something broke, you fixed it. If something was needed, you figured out how to make it. That practical creativity has followed me ever since.
Today, I design modern quilt patterns through Lolo Cloth & Hide. Lolo Cloth & Hide is my small quilt pattern studio, where I design modern quilts inspired by old traditions, useful objects, and the belief that handmade things make everyday life better.
Over the years, I've realized that a quilt spends far more of its life being lived with than being sewn. While I enjoy the making process, I'm ultimately designing for what comes after—the years a quilt spends on a bed, folded over a couch, packed into a camper, or pulled outside on a cool evening.
I'm drawn to quilts with clean lines, simple shapes, and enough personality to become part of a home without overwhelming it. The quilts I return to are the ones that feel calming to look at and comforting to use, year after year.
The patterns you'll find here are designed to be approachable, enjoyable to sew, and beautiful to live with. Modern without chasing trends. Timeless without feeling old-fashioned. (Though I dearly love a good old-fashioned quilt.) I hope all the quilts you make are cherished just as much as those ones are.
