Five Simple Ways to Bring More Creativity Into Your Day: Small shifts, fresh perspectives, and everyday inspiration to spark your creative spirit.

Lately, I’ve been craving more creativity—not in big, overwhelming ways, but in small, everyday moments that bring joy and curiosity back into my life. Many friends I’ve talked to have shared that they’re feeling stuck, unsure of how to tap back into their creative spark.

What if, instead of waiting for inspiration to strike, we invited creativity back in through simple, playful ways? Sometimes, it’s the small things—changing your perspective, noticing textures, or trying something completely new—that make the biggest difference.Creativity isn’t just about making art or finishing big projects—it’s about how we see the world, how we play, and how we bring a little extra spark into everyday moments.

Here are five fun, simple ways to invite more creativity into your days:

1. Change Your Perspective
Feeling stuck? Sometimes, all you need is a fresh angle. Creativity thrives when we break out of our usual routines and look at things differently.

Try This: Flip your work upside down. Step outside and observe the sky. Quilt on the floor instead of a table. Rummage through your closet and wear a color you don’t usually choose. Even small shifts can spark big ideas.

New surroundings, even tiny changes, jolt your brain out of autopilot and help you see possibilities you might have missed.

One of my favorite things to do is look up to change my perspective and be inspired.

2. Look for Inspiration in Unexpected Places
Creativity isn’t just in the quilt room—it’s everywhere! The textures of tree bark, the color of your morning coffee, the pattern of bricks on a sidewalk—little details can become a source of inspiration.

Try This: Take a quick walk and collect “creative snapshots.” These could be mental notes, phone photos, or a quick sketch of something interesting—a shadow pattern, a color combination, or even the way leaves scatter on the ground.

Training yourself to notice the world around you turns everyday life into an endless well of inspiration.

3. Embrace Imperfection & Play
Perfectionism is creativity’s worst enemy. Some of the best creative breakthroughs happen when we let go of “right” and just explore.

Try This: Set a timer for 10 minutes and create something with no plan. Improv-piecing with fabric scraps, doodling with thread, or even trying a craft you wouldn’t normally do (have you Pinterested rock art or toilet paper roll crafts lately?). The goal isn’t to make something perfect—it’s to have fun.

When you stop worrying about results, you free up space for unexpected brilliance.

4. Shake Up Your Creative Ritual
Sometimes, your routine needs a little refresh. A small shift—like trying a new creative warm-up or rearranging your workspace—can reignite inspiration.

Try This: Swap out your usual creative ritual. If you always start with coffee, try tea. If you typically quilt in silence, play a podcast or music that makes you feel inspired. If you always work in the same space, try stitching outside or in a different room.

New rituals help rewire your brain, making your creative time feel fresh and exciting.

One of my favorite tips is to rearrange my working space when I want to inspire some creativity.

5. Make Creativity Part of Everyday Life
Creativity doesn’t have to be separate from the rest of your day—it can be woven into simple, joyful moments.

Try This: Start your morning by asking: What’s one tiny way I can bring creativity into today? Maybe it’s trying a new recipe, arranging your quilt stash by color, writing a one-sentence story, or picking wildflowers for your table.

Small creative acts build momentum, making creativity feel like a natural, everyday habit instead of something you have to “find time” for.

Final Thoughts
Creativity isn’t something you have to chase—it’s something you can nurture, little by little, every day. By shifting perspectives, embracing play, and looking for small moments of inspiration, you’ll find that creativity shows up more often and feels more effortless.

So, what’s one small way you’ll invite more creativity into your day today?
